Dr. Saurabh Dey

Dr. Saurabh Dey is an instructor, and Co-Director of MACS (Master of Applied Computer Science) program in the Faculty of Computer Science at Dalhousie University. He is deeply passionate about bridging the gap between theory and practice by bringing real-world experiences into the classroom, with a strong focus on experiential learning that inspires meaningful student engagement. He studies how to improve the way teaching works, especially in universities. His current work looks at how people learn, how online courses are designed, how to keep students engaged, and how to make sure all parts of a course fit together well. He hopes his research will help make learning more effective and meaningful for students.

Thoughts on Belonging: Learners joining classes from diverse geographical locations often face challenges such as financial uncertainty, cognitive strain, and the pressure to succeed. By fostering an inclusive classroom environment and thoughtfully managing cognitive load, I seek to create a space where every student feels supported, valued, and truly a part of the learning community.
